Orlando

There’s a reason why more than 50 million people visit the Orlando area every year. Sprawling theme parks, towering water slides, pristine beaches, and over 5,000 world-class restaurants have made it one of the world’s most popular places to vacation and own a second home.

Oh, and the endless supply of sunshine doesn’t hurt either.

There’s not a lot of places in the world that you can swim with dolphins, shake hands with Mickey Mouse, dine with pirates, and kiss a killer whale all in one day.

There’s no place in the world like Orlando.

 Shopping

With about a dozen world-class malls, including the posh Mall at Millenia and the 250-store Florida Mall, the options for shopping are endless. Outlet lovers will adore Orlando’s Premium Outlets on International Drive and Vineland Avenue, which collectively house more than 300 stores boasting deep discounts. Rest those tender tootsies on the I-Ride Trolley that connects the two gargantuan shopping centers.

With its brick-lined boulevard housing more than 140 luxury boutiques and posh eateries, Winter Park’s Park Avenue has well deserved its nickname as the Rodeo Drive of Florida. This quaint, upscale neighborhood north of downtown Orlando is the ideal locale for gourmet cheese shops, spice boutiques, and croissant cafes.

Pleasantville literally came to life in 1996 with the creation of the town of Celebration, a Disney residential project with a downtown shopping district that’s proven to be a favorite amongst visiting shoppers. Peruse a dozen or so shops surrounding picturesque Lake Celebration, grab a bite at one of several great restaurants, or catch a flick at the AMC Theater inspired by the Cathay Circle Cinema in LA where Walt Disney premiered Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937.

Beaches

Fringed by over a 1000 miles of coastline, powdery white sands are baked by the Florida sunshine.  An hour from Orlando you will find lively Daytona Beach and the surfers paradise of Cocoa Beach. The Gulf Coast, about two hours away, features world-famous stretches of beach, including St Petersburg Beach, Clearwater, and Treasure Island. Endless days of fine weather and will a purported 360 days of sunshine a year. No wonder it is called the ' Sunshine State'.

 Dining and Nightlife

Fueling up for all the fun to be had in Central Florida is actually one of the best parts of being in the area; the foodie scene here is on fire. With a multitude of independent eateries in eclectic dining districts as well as all the national favorites, the options for breakfast, lunch and dinner are never-ending.

In Orlando, several dining hubs house some of the area’s best eats. Disney’s BoardWalk offers a collection of quick eats and upscale bites, including Flying Fish Café and Kouzzina by Cat Cora. Similarly, nearby Downtown Disney packs in a dozen or so restaurants, including Rainforest Café and T-REX, which are both very kid-friendly.

Outside the theme park zone, locals love Sand Lake’s Restaurant Row offering a mix of national chains such as Morton’s Steakhouse along with a multitude of award-winning independents. Just north of the city, Park Avenue in Winter Park offers a collection of upscale eateries, most with patio seating and views of the swanky, brick-lined street.

When the sun goes down, the fun heats up all over the Orlando area. The bars and clubs of Downtown Disney or Universals City Walk are a hoot, but consider also heading to downtown Orlando to check out the newly revived Church Street District, or the always-boisterous Wall Street Plaza.  Dance clubs, wine bars, and chic martini lounges are everywhere.
