12 Cheap Ways to Have Fun in Orlando this Fall

Planning a holiday trip to Orlando this fall with the family? If you want to take a break from the crowds at Disney, and save some cash too, try one of the following activities. Best of all, they’re FREE! 

Art Under the Stars: Rotary Club of Maitland Art Festival – This annual boutique art festival takes place around Lake Lily Park in Maitland, and is the only night-time fine art show in Florida. Taking place November 13-15th, visitors can view works from 135 artists and enjoy live entertainment under the stars. 

Friday Night Jazz Series – Catch live jazz music at Thornton Park in downtown Orlando on November 6th from 5 pm – 10 pm. 

Sanford Art Walk – Take a stroll along the streets of historic downtown Sanford on Friday, November 27th from 6-9 pm for an evening of live music and plenty of art. November’s theme is Bountiful Harvest, celebrating the Sanford Community Garden’s 5-year anniversary. 

Thornton Park Art and Wine Walk – Another lovely way to spend a fall evening is to head downtown to Thornton Park on the 2nd Thursday of the month to enjoy sights, sounds, food, shopping, art and a glass of wine along your walk. Free to join, but a wine glass for wine stops is $10. 

Free First Mondays at Leu Gardens - One of Orlando’s most under-utilized local gems, Harry P. Leu Gardens is a 50-acre botanical haven located just north of downtown Orlando. The first Monday of the month, you can tour these lovely, tranquil gardens for free. Includes access to the gardens and the Leu House Museum, which are open 9 am – 5 pm daily. 

Moonlight Walking Tour at Greenwood Cemetery - Explore four miles within this 100-acre cemetery on Nov. 20, visiting about 100 graves of notable individuals in Orlando’s history. The event is free, but advance reservations are required. Click here for more details. 

Orlando Brewing Company – Want to see how beer is made? Stop by this local brewery Monday thru Saturday at 6 pm. for a free tour. No reservations needed. The company also provides free entertainment on the weekends. 

Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art – Enjoy beautiful art works, including an extensive collection of Tiffany glass, and live music  for free every Friday evening, between 4 pm and 8 pm. 

Movie in the Park – Head out to the Kissimmee Waterfront Park on November 6th to see the blockbuster film, “Avengers: The Age of Ultron” under the stars.  Activities start at 6 pm, Movie starts at 7 pm.
