ORLANDO AREA NEWS - HOTEL OCCUPANCY RATES AT 65%

Orlando hotel occupancy for the week of Feb. 21-27 was 64.9 percent, a slight increase of 0.6 percent from 64.5 percent in the year-ago period, said Smith Travel Research. Average daily room rates in Orlando were $100.23, down 5.4 percent from $105.94 in the same week in 2009. Revenue per available room — a barometer of the hospitality industry’s health — was down 4.8 percent from $68.34 last year to $65.06 this year.
