Realtor association members reported 2,473 existing home closings in March, up from the 1,754 sales that sold in March 2009. Meanwhile, association members also filed 4,662 sales contracts last month, bringing total area pending sales — an indicator of future sales activity — to 10,179, more than double the 4,906 reported in the year-earlier period. However, the median home price continued to fall when compared with the year-ago period. The March 2010 price of $110,000 was 18.5 percent less than March 2009’s $135,000, but it was 4.8 percent higher than February 2010’s $105,000.
